Bachelor in Ecology

Admission for Bachelor in  Ecology is every second year. Next admission is in 2018.
You will gain knowledge about the ocean and life in the ocean and meteorological impacts on the Faroe Islands and the rest of the world.

If you are interested in issues, such as the origin of life, how it changes, how genetics determine the traits and capacities of the world’s living organisms, and how organisms adapt to the environment, BSc in Biology and Ecology is an interesting degree programme for you.

The education is organized according to international standards and provides you with professional biological and ecological competences.

The faroese nature is a natural part of the education. The environment is distintive. You will for instance work with fish stocks and stock care, nutrition and examine and analyze the ecology at land.

You will have the opportunity to make impact assessments of global warming, in the ocean and on land. Also, to describe different kinds of pollution and how the pollution impacts human beings, plants, animals and organisms.

At most courses you will shift between theory and laboratory research. Some courses are during the summer. You will be provided with qualifications to limit, propose and analyze ecological questions and problems, interpret research and put them in a commercial and social perspective.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission requirements are an upper secondary diploma with:

·        A-level Mathematics

·        B-level Physics

·        C-level Chemistry

The minimum average of 7 on the 13- Marking Scale is required for mathematics. This corresponds to 4 on the Marking Scale on the 7-scale.

The average is calculated based on both exam results and annual marks for oral and written performance.  

The faculty may decide to apply equivalent criteria based on case-by-case assessments.

EMPLOYABILITY & FURTHER EDUCATION

The education provides you with work possibilities in engineering, as a consultant and in administration in private companies and public institutions and as a teacher.

The education gives you basis for a many sided and interesting field of work.

• Environmental advisor in the private and the public sector

The education is international and therefore you may continue education at other universities around the world.
