Applications for credit transfer are processed twice a year, in the autumn and spring terms.
The application deadlines for students enrolled on the Social Educator or Primary and Lower Secondary School Qualification Programmes are August 20 and March 1.
The application deadlines for other students registered with the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education are October 1 and March 1.

Transferred credit may be awarded for the following studies
1) Provided that they are at the same level, components of degrees or qualifications completed at other Faroese higher education institutions may be credited towards our programmes, at the time of enrolment or during the course of study.
2) Provided that they are at the same level, components of degrees or qualifications completed at higher education institutions abroad may be credited towards our programmes, at the time of enrolment or during the course of study.
3) Pre-approval of credit earned during study abroad: Provided that they are at the same level, components of higher education programmes, which students intend to study abroad, may be credited towards University of the Faroe Islands’ programmes, at the time of enrolment or during the course of study. Examples of such study abroad would be Nordic summer courses and Nordliks/Nordplus courses or study visits .
How much credit can be transferred
A maximum of 40 ECTS accumulated at another institution may be credited towards the University of the Faroe Islands bachelor degrees in Faroese, History or Social Sciences. For the Social Educator or Primary and Lower Secondary School Qualification Programmes the maximum is, however, 45 ECTS (one specialisation).
Students who completed their bachelor degree at the University may apply for the transfer of up to 60 ECTS credits towards one of our master degree programmes. Students who have not completed a bachelor degree at the University may apply for the transfer of up to 30 ECTS credits towards one of our master degree programmes.
For minor subjects, the 30 ECTS required at master level may be awarded as transferred credit.
Application
Students must apply for credit transfer using the credit transfer application form available in Faroese (Umsókn um góðskriving ), which they have to submit to their Department.
