Bachelor of education

Period of study: 3 years

Place of Education: Tórshavn​
 

The education takes 4 years and is organized in two levels. First a three year Bachelor of Education, then a fourth year of study giving you professional competences as a teacher.  

1. year of study is organized partly as co-teaching between teacher and pedagogue studies. The subjects are learning  and development related to children and youth.

2. year of study is the humanities or natural science path

3. and 4. year of study is the main study. The students are achieving professional specialized pedagogical knowledge in certain subjects.
 

The main subjects are faroese in the public school, danish, english, german, christianity, history, social studies, biology, geography, physics, chemistry, mathematics, visual art, needleart, wood work,  home economics, sports, music, nature, technology, and IT.

There are also common linesubjects between pedagogical students and teacher students.
 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission requirements are an upper secondary diploma.
 

FUTURE POSSIBILITIES

There are many job opportunities in development and learning. New knowledge provides new challenges. When working as a teacher you work with children and youth in different ages and in different subjects.

B.Ed. diploma gives you further access to a master degree in the pedagogical field.

You can apply to the following degree programmes at the Department of Education:

• BEd in Education with Primary and Lower Secondary School Teacher Qualification (school years 1 – 10)
• BEd in Social Education with Social Educator Qualification

The application deadline has not yet been set for 2016, but normally quota 2  is April 15 at midnight​ and quota 1  is July 1 at midnight
